Not sure about this.

Read it all twice and had a look at some slides. "Beautiful libraries" has really amazing pictures of libraries around the world, but I am not sure what to do with all this. I can imagine using parts of someone's slideshow if it is applicable to a talk you are going to give. I don't have the time to go into it too deep at the moment, but knowing it is there I will do some other time. It would be useful if you need ideas on how to do an induction to the library to students using a slideshow. You can have a look at other libraries. Of course you can use it on your website, although I find it easier myself just to read the information instead of looking at slides.

Such fun browsing photos.

This is a very useful side to spice up notices in the library. Students might even "take notice" if they see interesting pictures. Especially the signs are useful for giving directions or information. A picture sometimes says so much more than words. It is good to know how you can upload these pictures legally.

Amazing pictures in my iGooglepage

It worked!! Finally and RSS feed on my igoogle page. I enjoy looking at Flickr. I can see what my family members have been up to during their holidays. Some of the photos are quite amazing. I managed to find a good photographer and added her RSS feed. To do this I had to google how to add the RSS feed. I did not realize that you could do it via the add button on your igoogleaccount.

Tags, good for electronic searching, not so good for browsing on the shelf.

I have looked at my tags and really if you know what the "Things" involve my tags are sufficient. My postings are not very interesting so far, so I can't think of good tags for them. I looked at some other 23 Things blogs and found that these bloggers mostly used the same tages. I did not read the whole article about classifications, but I can see the point of tags. The whole idea of search engines is to put good "tags" in your webpages, so that people find your information. Of course this is misused by websites that want to sell you things. A lot of our students still browse the shelves, so good classification is useful. There is a point that classification schemes need to be adjusted to the need of your library to get the best use out of books.

Twitter, not really my thing.

Not something I will enjoy doing. I don't really like the idea of being out there, so this is not for me. I do find it amazing how some people (very general) publicise themselves on the internet. I do however like to find out what all these different things are and how people are using them.

23 Things is starting to grow on me!

Just finished my Google Calendar, which was fun and very useful to share with colleagues and partners. It was not difficult to follow the instructions and I will have another look at it to find out all the possibilities. I write items on different calendars all the time, some at work and some at home and need to keep updating all of them. A Google calender I can access everywhere, so there will be no need for that now. This 23 Thing is slowly growing on me!

Oh the meetings I will have!!!

That was ok!!! I quite enjoyed this thing 5 and I can see this is really useful, especially for my reading group events. I might use it for future events in the library. I was dreading doing another thing and it turned out ok. Being a total 2.0 virgin I find following the 23 things instructions not always easy. A good thing Thing 5!!

Lost!!

Finally I managed to insert this screenshot after wasting the time of two people. This is going really fast!! and taking far too much time. I am sure that nobody will be interested in my blog, but who knows I might have really interesting things to say in the future. Have to keep optimistic.
Creating a iGoogle Account in Thing 1 was quite fun. I have to spend some more time however adding useful websites and making the page more interesting to look at at some later stage. I have read people's blogs when I was studying at Aberystwyth and it was really good, because the information is updated all the time, but I have not added RSS feeds before. This is the reason why I am doing this course after all. To get to know what is available, how to use it and see if it can be useful in anyway. At the moment I feel a bit confused by it all.

Cam 23 Promises

Cam 23 will hopefully give me some idea about what my children are talking about amongst themselves. It will be good to know "what is out there", some of which might be very useful either for work or private life or both. Sofar I have not had many experiences of Web 2.0. I have been too busy to find out what is out there.
